Why the #*@% is Everyone Talking About Carbs?!

There seem to be two very specific camps of people right now.

The camp that believes all carbs are bad and we should stay far, far away from them

and

The camp that believes carbs are everyone’s best friend and that we should all be eating plenty of them.

There’s seemingly no middle ground. My Facebook feed is like watching the DNC battle the RNC over the next iteration of the Berlin wall, except on domestic soil.

Ridiculous.

It’s like everyone’s responding to everyone else but in totally passive-aggressive ways. I personally posted about how my youngest and I are pulling back on carbs and sugar because I’ve noticed he has a metabolism just like mine and I want to give him the very best shot at a healthy life without living with obesity and the myriad health problems that often come with it.

Suddenly I see all these people talking about

“I wish more people would grasp that carbs are not bad, Carbs are our friends!”

Fuck off.

Seriously.

Nutrition is not a one-size-fits-all thing.

Like at ALL.

Healthy nutrition is as unique as our biological makeup, and the BEST thing for people to do is worry about what they’ve got on their OWN plate. It’s super clear that some people can eat more carbs and their bodies are really happy with that. Cool! Great! THUMBS ALL THE WAY UP!

Then there are people like me with Insulin Resistance for whom carbohydrates and sugar are, in fact, VERY bad. I have gained 30lbs in less than 30 days JUST BY ADDING RICE AND FRUIT BACK INTO MY DIET.

So unless you’re an Endocrinologist with some Optimal Nutrition Genetic testing I don’t know about and that doesn’t *actually* exist yet, shut up and worry about what’s on your own plate. Some people can be BFF with carbs, but for some people, carbs are enemies.

We don’t have to have the same friends to be friends, and you can cut your judgmental bullshit right off. Thx.

    Yeah, eat a dick people…. I hear it’s full of protein anyway….

If I were being legit AF and not eating like a total asshole, I would only be able to eat complex carbs (no sugar, basically oatmeal, sweet potatos and rice) in the am… fruit in the am and then just fat and protein with green veggies the rest of the day. But that’s boring and depressing… so I’ll eat this bagel and cry myself to sleep in the fetal position and hope I don’t pop a button on my jeans before I wake up.

    But Monday!!!

HAHAHA! I hear that’s full of protein too! I’ll settle for a hot dog, though. 😛 Girl, you do what makes you the happiest Christa there is!
