It’s been a really long time since I did any Paleo before & during pictures, and you’re not really going to get any in this post either. It’s not because I’ve gained weight, or fallen completely off of the grain-free wagon, it’s just because there haven’t been any positive changes in my body. I was working out before we left Savannah, and I worked out for a little while after we moved, but I lost steam.
We moved to Raleigh in June and I let myself get bogged down with life and The Workaholic’s awkward schedule. Despite the fact that there is a massive Farmer’s Market here, I really despise shopping in Raleigh. there’s nothing quite like Publix – where shopping really IS a pleasure. I have to go to a few stores to get what I want at prices I can afford, and the Farmer’s Market is about a 40 minute drive from my house. Going to the gym in the evening was completely counter productive because I was working out then going out to eat at fast food restaurants or coming home and cooking nasty-meat chicken nuggets for the kids for dinner because I didn’t have TIME for anything else. These are all excuses, really and I totally know that. I still eat Paleo at home, we still cook Paleo food, but I had to have easy stuff in the house for those rushed times, right?
I decided to give running a try, but stopped when I got the most GOD-awful shin splints I’ve EVER in my life experienced. Can you even have shin splints on the side of your leg? Apparently you can, and it was hard for me to walk let alone run or do a machine.
So there the working out came to a screeching halt. That was 2 months ago.
I’m still paying for my membership to the YMCA, I just need to GO. I need some MOTIVATION. I need someone checking in on me EVERY, SINGLE DAY to make sure I went. I’ve recently found a lot more time in my day, so the time isn’t what I’m lacking. It really is just the motivation. I miss my dear workout partner in Savannah who forced me to go when I didn’t feel like it, because she knew that when the day came that she didn’t feel like it, I would make her go too. I love sweating with someone else, it fuels me.
I’ve been much, much better about cooking real-food meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I am menu-planning Paleo foods again, and working on taking off this last 60lbs. (I write this as I am binging on Hershey’s Kisses from the kids’ Advent Calendar).
I just want to get back into the gym and start lifting weights.
Someone help motivate me!
In better news, I had to go shopping for a new outfit at Sears the other day, and I was really excited to fit into normal girl clothing instead of having to shop in the Women’s department. So despite the rocky path I’ve been walking since we moved to Raleigh, I’m still looking better now than I did a year ago. Don’t believe me? See for yourself:
Then (December 2011) – Check out that impressive back fat!
Now, December 2012 – My booty’s looking better, and the back fat is (mostly) gone
SO there you go. Me, then and now. If you can find it in your heart to help motivate me to get back into the gym and lose these last 60lbs by my 32nd birthday on July 23, 2013, I would love you more than words. Seriously.
