What does a gal do when her husband doesn’t like to put holes in the walls of her home? She starts to tackle #ProjectAmazing in order to organize her bathroom, thanks to a partnership with #CollectiveBias and their advertiser.
Since we’ve decided we’re staying in our rental home for another year or two, I’ve been working really hard at trying to make this little box a home. We have and no organizational tools at all, and the decor has been nonexistent. Kyle doesn’t like to knock holes in the walls, no matter how small, in order to hang things, and I’m just going to be honest with y’all for a sec: The man has never met a screw he didn’t strip. It’s never his fault, though, it’s always the drill, the screw, or the bad drywall. Y’all know how it is.
This means I have to come up with alternate ways to hang things in my house, and the only option I’ll even consider are Command™ and Scotch® Brand products. There are really no other products on the market that work quite like Command™ or Scotch® Brand products, and I know I can trust them not to take the paint off the walls, hold strongly, and work on many of my home’s surfaces. I picked the Command™ Picture Hanging Strips and Command™ Clear Hooks up at Walmart in the craft aisle on a recent grocery run, and ran home to fabricate something cute yet functional for the downstairs bathroom. Back up a quick minute. Did you read that? Command™ and Scotch® Brand products are now in the craft aisles at Walmart. I know, RIGHT?! All you craft geeks should love that. No more searching the hardware section, they’re right at your fingertips!
I’ve been so tired of seeing towels on the floor or hanging over the shower curtain bar. The littles aren’t tall enough to throw their towels over the bar, so their towels live on the floor which just gives me the heebies. Confession time: I have a bit of a towel “thing”. I can’t use someone else’s towel, or a towel that has touched the floor. Don’t judge, it’s one of my few quirks. Truly, I gag and shudder when I think of drying my kids off with a towel that has spent time on the floor.
Our house is really, really small and I wanted something industrial chic to go in their bathroom that would hold their towels. I was coming up short, so when I found this planter, I knew it was my guy, and that the Command™ Clear Hooks I got at Walmart would be perfect for their towels to hang on.
I started by fastening the Command™ Clear Hooks to the front of the plant holder. I then fastened two large and one medium Picture Hanging Strips to the back of the planter.
To get it to hang on the wall, you match each of the Picture Hanging Strips up with a matching Picture Hanging Strip, peel the backs off, and stick the piece where you want it to go on the wall.
Once the strips are in place, pull up on the piece so that it comes off of the wall and allow the strips to adhere to the wall for about an hour.
I rolled some washcloths and a hand towel up and put them in the planter slots, then added the initials of each of the kids (stuck to the wall with none other than Command™ Poster Strips) just above the new towel hanger.
I feel like I need a chambray shower curtain to finish the look off, but until I can find one I like, I’m really happy with this look. The Picture Hanging Strips are strong enough to hold 16lbs, so I know that our new towel holder is chic and has some serious staying power.
