Have you seen those memes floating around about how moms be like: Woohoo! Kids are back in school ! You guys, that is totally me. I mean, I think I probably said that out loud and someone thought it would be a funny meme. Because everything is always all about me, right? Well, except this post maybe. This post is more about my tmobile free data and me than anything else.
All joking aside, I’m so glad the kids are back in school. For the past two years, we’ve lived in a place that had year round school. It was absolutely divine. Styles had a month off of school each quarter. It was just enough time for him to enjoy the time off, but not so much that he became drive-mom-insane bored. One of the things I was most upset about when we moved to Florida was that we were going back to a traditional school calendar. Commence the start of endless summers filled with “Mom, what is there to eat?” and “I’m Booooooorrrrreedddd!” To which my reply sounds a lot like this looks:
I mean, seriously? Styles has been eating more in the last two months than he’s eaten in his entire life. He went from being a hair’s breadth away from needing a G-Tube to eating more than an Olympic swimmer. I don’t know what to do with this kid. He ate his weight in peaches in one day and then wanted to know what else there was to eat in the house. He got mad when I suggested leftover meatloaf, because like, DUH, Mom. Teenagers don’t eat leftovers, psh.
He was also driving me up the bloomin’ wall with the non-walking of the dog. His job, when he’s home, is to walk Pearl, our sweet Great Dane. She’s a little finicky about going to the bathroom. The air has to be just right, wind direction just so, and God forbid the grass be wet lest her little paws get a little dewy. She’s a prima donna to the max, but if I had to hear Styles whine about walking her one more time, I was going to flip my ever loving lid. I finally gave up one day and let her outside without a leash. She bolted – FREEDOM! – and he was devastated. It was a solid 36 hours before he whined about taking her out again.
Grady started preschool for the first time ever in August. I haven’t talked much about our issues with him in this space, though I’ve planned to many times. In short, he has a severe speech delay and I had to make a choice between sending Grady to preschool OR Madilyn. Unfortunately, we just can’t afford for both of them to go to school this semester. Madilyn starts Florida’s Voluntary Pre-K in January, but in the meantime, she’s school-less. That means Grady gets to go to school and Madilyn gets to stay home and play with Sweetie and Honey while I work. Or it means Grady gets to go to school and cry during nap time while Madilyn and I go to the beach to work, er . . . play.
I’ve been stressing out a little bit about spending more one on one time with her, but I also need the mornings to get work done. I enjoy working and without the extra distraction, I feel paralyzed. It’s this weird paradox with me. When I’m not working, I’d rather just be hibernating. When I’m working, I’m alive. So work it is. Kyle is off in the mornings and works evenings and I really want to be able to share my life with him the way other couples do, just kind of in reverse. But . . . work.
I was literally, not figuratively, but literally doing cartwheels in my living room when I found out about the T-Mobile Trio AXS 7.85” 4G Tablet because it has free mobile data for the life of the tablet. Each 30 days, you get 200MB of T-Mobile free data . You don’t even have to put a credit card down on your account for overage which is one of my favorite things about it. I have wifi at home, I really don’t need to use mobile data when I can get wifi somewhere. But what happens when it’s Tuesday and I have to pick Grady up from school at 2, don’t have to pick Styles up from school until 3:15, but do have to be in Styles’ carpool line by 2:30 so that I’m the first car in line in order to get Madilyn to ballet by 3:30? I have to leave the house at 1:30 to pick Grady up and we don’t get home until around 5pm. That’s 3.5 hours of work time that is completely taken away from me, and it stresses me out!
Now that I’ve got the Trio AXS, I can pick Grady up, drive to Styles’ school, and sit there for an hour getting work done with my T-Mobile free data tablet while the littles color in the back seat. I can also head to the beach with Kyle and Madilyn to get some work done while they play in the waves. Do you know how relaxing it is to sit on the beach and work, the soundtrack of gulf waves playing in your ear and the salty breeze blowing through your hair? It’s nothing short of inspiring. You can work on location too, as long as you’re somewhere in the T-Mobile network . you can use your tablet.
The data service isn’t like my high speed internet at home, but it is fast enough to get the job done and still be present in my life, or get the things done that I need to get done, both for work and with the family. I can sacrifice less and produce more, which is super cool and makes everyone happy, especially my bosses at #CollectiveBias and my handsome hubby.
