One thing I’ve learned since I had my younger two kids is that you never really grow up, and the people who pretend to be all grown up are painfully unhappy.
I don’t know about you, but the last thing I want is to be remembered as the old lady with the perma-scowl and unhappy jowls. No, when I go out, it’s going to be with a smile, crows feet drowning my face. So it should come as no surprise to you that I’m extremely excited for Disney*Pixar’s Coco hitting theaters on November 22nd.
The film promises to be the kind of film that blows your mind with its color and graphics, with a plot that will keep all audiences engaged, laughing, and full up with the feels.
Despite his family’s baffling generations-old ban on music, Miguel (voice of newcomer Anthony Gonzalez) dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz (voice of Benjamin Bratt). Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead following a mysterious chain of events. Along the way, he meets charming trickster Hector (voice of Gael García Bernal), and together, they set off on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history.
I’ve been tracking this one since the 2015 D23 Expo, and had the pleasure of seeing first hand a long clip of the film as well as a beautiful dance performed by Mexican dancers and sung by Benjamin Bratt at the 2017 D23 Expo.
