I hate cleaning, that’s no surprise, but as part of a sponsored post for #CollectiveBias and their client, I’m trying to find new ways to make less work of my chores. I’m starting with cleaning my floors with #EurekaPower.
Seriously y’all. Cleaning stinks. We live in a three bedroom townhome and have five different types of flooring in this house. That means that I have four different ways to clean floors. I have brooms for the hard floors, mops (dust, steam, sponge) for the various hard floors, vacuums for the carpeted areas, and grout cleaners for the tile and marble. I spend so much time focusing on my floors that nothing else gets done. Like laundry. And dishes. And dusting. Or cleaning the playroom.
But only because my vacuum is SO stinkin’ heavy. It pretty much lives upstairs which means that the rugs downstairs are filthy, and I have to sweep, dust mop, then steam mop my floors. It takes SO much time. Having hardwoods and marble? Overrated. Completely overrated.
I’ve almost given up on the Stepford Wife that I’m certain my husband wants me to be. Having a spotless home a la June Cleaver AND looking good? It just doesn’t happen here. I either look great and the house looks like a war scene from the Middle East, or the house looks fantastic and I look like a homeless drug addict squatting in this townhome. The involuntary twitches that all-day cleaning invokes just makes the character even more believeable.
And doesn’t it always happen that when you’ve just spent HOURS sweeping, dusting, then mopping your floors, your kids drop then step on strawberries, oranges, or cheese and mash them into the cracks between the floorboards? Or is that just my house? We’ve also had fun with baking soda here.
I’d really like to talk specifically about taking care of your stairs. Admittedly, cleaning the stairs doesn’t often happen here. The vacuum that we have is way too difficult to maneuver up the stairs unless you’re a competition Cross Fitter. I need a vacuum that doesn’t weigh more than I do with some serious sucking power.
I also need something that I can keep downstairs that will work on hardwoods, marble, and rugs and that will tackle my everyday messes. All that in mind, I also want a vacuum that is powerful enough to deep clean my carpets and gentle enough to suck all of the dust off of my floors without spewing it all over the place like the broom does. Having an attachment that makes that all possible? Bonus.
Just see how gross my stairs were before vacuuming them!
Does that sort of beast even exist? I was completely geeked out when we got our Dyson vacuum four years ago. It quickly lost its lustre when I realized that it was crazy heavy and just no fun to maneuver around. Vacuuming really blows anyways, having a machine I have to fight to vacuum with makes it far worse.
The Eureka Airspeed All Floors easily beat my busted old broom in a lightweight bout around the floor of my house. The broom just flings dust and hair up into the air which means I have to let the dust settle (literally) before I can dust mop before I can steam mop. Do you see how insane this is?
The vacuum sucked all of the dust and hair up so that I could mop immediately, plus there were no disgusting messes to clean up because they were all contained in the canister. That’s a WIN if I ever saw one. Sorry, Broom, you’re outta here!
So while I’m still not a fan of cleaning, I’m crazy excited that my floor time has been cut in half. Now all I have to do is vacuum with this versatile vacuum that goes effortlessly from hardwood to rug, then run my Robot mop over the floor and let it do its thing so I can sit back and fix my hair. Or play with vintage makeup. Or shop online.
