This Blueberry Ginger Cheese Ball is coated in Kellogg’s Rice Krispies then drizzled with honey for a perfectly sweet crunch. It pairs beautifully with gingersnaps and is all you need to take to your next holiday party. Except maybe a hostess gift. You should probably take that too, or one of these other mouthwatering Kellogg’s recipes .
I live in the south. I was born in the south but raised in the wilds of Alaska by a southern woman and then moved back to the south as soon as I had a chance. I can’t say I’m always happy with that decision, but now that I’m here I do thoroughly enjoy my Saturdays in the south with football and parties and toilet papering trees after wins.
I also enjoy a good old southern hospitality holiday party where the hostess wears pearls and heels and serves divine food, some of which has been served for generations, others that she’s introducing to her guests for the first time.
I’m a fan of tradition, but I’m also a fan of creating new things out of flavors that are tried and true, that just go well together.
This recipe is inspired by my bonus mom, otherwise known as a stepmom in most households. She loves to entertain and really knows how to throw a party. There is always a mixture of old and new foods, and the decor is, without fail, absolutely flawless. I wish I had an ounce of her creativity where it comes to throwing parties. Alas, I lack the detail-oriented abilities she possesses.
At one of her holiday fêtes several years ago she served a goat cheese with apricots on gingersnaps and I remember falling absolutely in love with the combination. Since then I’ve played around with my own fruit, cheese, gingersnap creations.
Then I started dabbling in the creation of cheese balls that weren’t savory, but sweet, and I happened upon this gem. The Kellogg’s Rice Krispies on the outside create a nice little crunch and they pair amazingly well with the blueberries and goat cheese found in the cheese ball. The addition of a some fresh ginger makes the flavor stick around a little longer once you’ve swallowed your cheese & gingersnaps.
This isn’t your gramma’s cheese ball. I promise, this one is dressed to impress. Rice Krispies are so versatile that they can be used in a sweet or a savory recipe, but this one’s sweet, because what’s better than my two vices rolled up into one perfect little ball?
Nothing. The answer is nothing.
But a close second would be that this Blueberry Ginger Cheese Ball takes no time to make and will impress even your most finicky guest.
First, throw the ingredients into a food processor or stand mixer and mix well.
Then chill until you plan to serve. When you’re ready to serve the cheese ball, take it out of the refrigerator and roll it around into a ball. It doesn’t have to be a perfect ball, stop that. Just a lopsided, lumpy ball will do.
Then press Rice Krispies all over the outside of the cheese ball. No, you cannot skip this step, it is vital to the recipe, and basically the most delicious part.
I could use an SNL reference here, but I won’t. Instead I’ll say: When you’re done coating the entire surface of your ball with Rice Krispies, put it onto a pedestal or onto whatever you plan to serve it on, and drizzle the entire ball with honey. Preferably with honey from my dad’s ranch, but if you can’t get your hands on that, then any local honey will do.
And yes, you’re seeing that right. This recipe makes two balls. Two blueberry balls. Just remember this: Don’t coat your balls until you’re ready to serve them. Serve this at your next party with some gingersnaps and I promise you’ll be the belle of the ball.

Ingredients
- 8oz Chevre Goat Cheese
- 8oz Cream Cheese (Softened)
- 1/2 cup Blueberry Preserves
- 2 teaspoons Freshly Grated Ginger
- 2 cups Rice Krispies
- Honey (As much or as little as you want to drizzle over the top of the cheese ball before serving.)
- Ginger Snaps (For Serving)
Note
You can prep the mixture for this blueberry ginger cheese ball ahead of time, but don't roll it in those delicious Rice Krispies until it is time to serve, otherwise the Krispies will get soggy. Don't let Rice Krispies get soggy.
Directions
Step 1 | |
Set cream cheese out a couple of hours before you begin for a smoother, lump-free ball. Beat goat cheese and cream cheese until smooth then stir in blueberry preserves. Grate fresh ginger into mixture and mix well. Scrape sides of bowl and place bowl into refrigerator to chill for 1-2 hours, or until ready to serve. | |
Step 2 | |
When ready to serve, either keep in one large ball or split into two smaller balls. DO NOT roll in Rice Krispies until ready to serve - they'll get soggy. Pour Rice Krispies out on parchment paper then place ball in the center of the Krispies. Press Rice Krispies into entire surface of the ball then place on serving platter and drizzle with honey. Serve with ginger snaps. |
Kellogg’s Rice Krispies are doing something I’m really excited about this year, and I hope you will be too. I love donating to Toys for Tots each year. I think it’s important for my children to learn the art of philanthropy at a young age, not everyone is born with an empathetic heart. I also think it’s important to support companies that have the same values you do, and in this case it’s Rice Krispies. When you share a picture of your treat on social media and hashtag it #treats4toys, Rice Krispies will donate a toy to a child in need for every treat shared. Please consider making a treat using Rice Krispies and post it on social media with the hashtag #treats4toys. It costs you nothing other than the cost of ingredients, and you’ll help provide for a child in need.
While you’re at Target, see if you can track down the Limited Edition Red & Green Rice Krispies, and grab some Cheez-It crackers for your tots to munch on while you roll this sweet cheese ball around your counter top.
