Kia treated me to a day in the Angeles National Forest with the new Kia Stinger, and I want to tell you about it.
I guess you could say I’m a fast girl.
I like fast things. I live for adventure. I love living just on the edge of danger. I love exhilaration and the feel of adrenalin coursing through my body. I love the too-fast beat of a heart that doesn’t know what’s next and the calm of a brain as it says “sshhh! I got this.”
I live for the chase of making new friends and learning about new places. Feeling the rush of the unknown keeps me fully alive.
I bore easily and I need constant stimulation which isn’t a problem when I’m living in a big city, but I’m not living in a big city. I live in a slow, easy resort town where the pace can be compared to ‘tortoise running race in molasses’. Even eating out at a quick service restaurant is an all night event.
There’s nothing wrong with that pace of life!
It’s just not for me.
I love the energy of other people and getting myself lost in a crowd, and I realize that I can’t have that all the time, I totally get it. But that doesn’t mean I can’t, or shouldn’t, look for other ways to get the energy I need to keep me going.
I find that if I don’t get out of my town at least once a quarter, I can’t function. I feel like I’m stuck in a box and everything becomes more difficult. Everything. I am finally getting to a point in my life where I can pinpoint exactly what I need to take care of myself and fill my own cup.
I don’t need to do these things because I’m unhappy in my life or with my husband or with the fact that I’m a mom. It’s just that I’m wildly independent and a completely free spirit and I need room to fly and be me every one in a while.
Give me a fast car and a winding road and my cup is filled.
Something as simple as driving a fast car that handles curves like it’s on rails though the mountains is enough. It’s even better when I get to do it with a friend, in this case, Shelley from A Magical Mess . We compiled a playlist of bass-heavy songs to enjoy on the premium Harmon Kardon sound system and we took to the hills.
I got a bonus shot of happiness when our beautiful route through the mountains took us down to an Autocross course where we got to let loose on the Stinger to see exactly what it can do alongside its competitors. Competitors like Audi, Infinity, Porsche, BMW, and Lexus.
It was a dream come true to have my favorite video game come to life in my own hands. If only I knew how to drift.
The Kia Stinger out-performed nearly all of the other vehicles I drove. It took curves like a champ and didn’t feel as heavy or clunky as the Porsche Panamera. It felt sturdy on the straightaways and solid around tight runs, unlike the Infinity Q50S which felt like it was going to fall apart taking tight turns at high speeds.
I know, I was pleasantly surprised too.
I know why people buy certain vehicles, for the name. It’s why I used to buy Kate Spade purses. But similar to the reason I switched to Better Life Bags, the Kia Stinger holds up to its competition in handling, form, and function; and smokes it in price.
It’s a true touring vehicle, that priced at under $32,000, is accessible to those of us who are solidly middle class but want a vehicle that performs as well as the cars with fancy labels on them.
You know, a fun car.
But beyond that, a car that is going to turn heads, a car that sounds like it could take on a race car, and a car that is comfortable for the long-haul, and a car that you can feel confident driving. Or maybe just a car that handles so well you feel like you’re playing a video game when what you’re really doing is scaring the crap out of your friend.
I’m pumped for the Kia Stinger to hit the market December 2017. Kyle is going to need a new car soon because Styles will be getting his old car, and even at 6’3″, he could fit behind the wheel of this vehicle while the rest of the family fits comfortably in the passenger spaces.
Look for the Kia Stinger at a Kia dealership near you and go test drive it as soon as you can.
Just be warned: You’re going to want one sitting in your garage when you’re done.

I’ve never called a car pretty before, but that car is pretty! I’m new to the road so I like to go slow lol, but looks like you had a blast!

It was SO much fun and I am a fast driver. I usually stay within the bounds of the law, but that car needed someone to break it in and I was just the gal to do it. 🙂
