I have to give a Galaxy-sized thank you to Disney & Marvel Studios for hosting me during the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Event.
So 2017 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting years of my life, mainly because this coming week, I’m going to be attending the World Premiere of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, which is the sequel to my favorite Marvel film to date. But seriously, that’s not all. I also get to have Second Breakfast like Katie Otto from ABC’s American Housewife. If you don’t know about this show yet, you need to know. It’s literally like watching my own life (I’m literally the second fattest housewife in my town, just like Katie, and probably the poorest too, with the most humble digs). Only I eat second breakfast alone. After I go to the gym.
ANYWAY, for those of you who were wondering what I’ll be doing on this vacati…I mean press trip, here’s the rundown, complete with which day we’ll be doing what THING so that you can follow along on Facebook AND Twitter! #GotGVol2Event
Tuesday, April 18 – #GotGVol2Event & #BornInChina:
I wake up at the butt-crack of dawn and cry a little that I can’t go to CrossFit before my super early morning flight. I throw my raccoon-printed Lularoe leggings on (because RACCOON!) and decide between Tieks and Doc Martens as appropriate footwear for the flight. I’ll probably decide on TOMS.
My handsome husband will deliver eggs and a piece of bacon to me in bed and a steaming cup of coffee, and I will eat it (slowly) then plummet out of bed five minutes before we have to leave for the airport.
I’ll fly to Dallas then to Los Angeles and hopefully work on the novel I seem to only work on when I’m 36000 feet in the air. It’s the strangest thing.
Once I get to LA, I’ll meet up with some friends and head to the hotel where I’ll get situated and then we’ll all head out to a screening of DisneyNature’s Born in China staring land’s version of orca whales – PANDAS!!!! The last DisneyNature film I saw, I nearly wet myself laughing. John Krasinksi is narrating Born in China, so I’m sure it will be amazepandas. Born in China is in theaters on April 21, 2017!
Wednesday, April 19 – #GotGVol2Event, #ABCTVEvent, #DownwardDog, #AmericanHousewife, #DWTS
I’m going to wake up at 6:30am Pacific time and work out. You think I’m kidding? I’m not. I’ve come way too far the last 6 weeks to screw anything up. My coaches have given me some workouts to do in the hotel and I fully plan on doing live video of me doing them. Accountability at its finest.
I promise I’ll shower before the day’s festivities, which kick off with a trip to ABC Studios where we’ll screen the series premiere of a new show called “Downward Dog”. We’ll have a Q&A sesh with Allison Tolman (“Nan”) and Samm Hodges (Co-Creator / Executive Producer AND the Voice of “Martin,” the dog). Downward Dog premieres on ABC on May 17 at 9:30/8:30c.
Then, we’ll have Second Breakfast just like Katie Otto and her friends after school drop off. I. AM. SO. EXCITED. ABOUT. THIS. Not just because I get to eat a second breakfast, but because watching American Housewife is like watching my own life, right down to the fact that I live in an upper class area, and my family and I aren’t so upper class (that’s a word, right?). After Second Breakfast, we’ll have a Q&A with American Housewife star, Katy Mixon (“Katie Otto”) and I’ll probably gush all over her because I swear we’re soul sisters. American Housewife airs Tuesdays on ABC at 8:30/7:30c.
And then – DRUMROLL PLEASE:
WE GET A DANCE LESSON FROM DANCING WITH THE STARS TROUPE MEMBERS!!!!!!!!!
Troupe members Brittany Cherry, Britt Stewart, Hayley Erbert, Brandon Stewart and newest member Artur Adamski are going to answer some of our questions about “Dancing With the Stars” AND THEN TEACH US TO DANCE! AAAAAHHHHHHHHH! I haven’t danced since I grew a Mom-Bod, but I’m so excited about this lesson! I imagine I’ll look like one of the hippos from Disney’s Fantasia, but I don’t even care. I wish I had a pink tutu to wear. . . Tune in to Dancing With The Stars on Mondays at 8/7c on ABC.
Afterward, we’ll go back to the hotel to get ready for our moment on the red carpet at the red carpet premiere of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. This is where we’ll get my first glimpse of Chris Pratt and Bradley Cooper, and watch the film with the cast & crew and other VIPs in the Dolby Theatre where the Oscars are held. They’re going to provide popcorn and drinks, but I’ll probably take an EPIC bar and some cashew butter because I really want to be able to walk the next day.
Now listen, y’all. I know you’re probably all going to want to know all about the movie, but because I love you (and because I’m a vault when it comes to keeping secrets), I am not going to tell you ANYTHING, so DO NOT EVEN ASK.
What I WILL do, is allow you to submit questions that I can ask the cast the next day during our interviews. Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Once we get back to the hotel, I’ll wipe the makeup off of my face, hit the sheets, then wake up at least seven times to make sure I don’t miss my alarm.
Thursday, April 20 – #GotGVol2Event & #RDMAEvent – INTERVIEW DAY!
I’ll be sitting in the same room as some of the cast, asking them questions, with a group of some of my closest friends and brightest minds in the media biz. I’m already buzzing with energy and excitement over this day. We’ll be meeting with Michael Rooker (“Yondu”), Sean Gunn (“Kraglin”), Karen Gillan (“Nebula”), Pom Klementieff (“Mantis”) Elizabeth Debicki (“Ayesha”), Kurt Russell (“Ego”), Zoe Saldana (“Gamora”), Dave Bautista (“Drax”), Chris Pratt (“Peter Quill / Star-Lord”), Director James Gunn and Producer and President of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige. KEVIN FLIPPING FEIGE!!!!!!!
So funny story, my friends and I saw him in the Disney Store on property when we attended the Jungle Book Event a year ago, and – FULL CIRCLE – the three of us are going to be meeting with him and asking him questions, and we’re all really hoping he doesn’t recognize us as the three creeps stalking him around the store. Embarrassing.
Following THAT excitement, we’ll also talk about the Radio Disney Music Awards. We don’t know much else about that part of the day, but as soon as I know, I’ll fill you in, so make sure you’re following me on Twitter so you don’t miss a thing.
When we get back to the hotel, I’ll probably stare at the ceiling with a really stupid smile on my face before grabbing a nightcap with friends.
Friday, April 21 – #GotGVol2Event #Descendants2Event
I will not be working out on Friday morning, because I’ll be hiking later in the day, and it’s our earliest day, though I doubt I’ll get out of the room without a few squats. I can’t wait to share pictures of the canyon, and probably at least one of my magenta, sweating, smiling face.
Of all the Disney movies since High School Musical, I’ve loved Descendants best. I had the opportunity to work on their blogger campaign as a campaign leader, organizing bloggers who wrote about the movie and merch. I loved the movie before it hit the mainstream market, and so did Madilyn. She’s still mildly obsessed with Mal and Evie and acts the entire movie out on a regular basis. She’s absolutely OVER THE MOON (and probably more-than-mildly-jealous) that I’ll be screening select scenes from Descendants 2, and then interviewing cast from Descendants 2 afterward. I don’t know WHO yet, but I PROMISE you, I’ll let you know the morning of the interviews, so SET AN ALARM because as soon as I know, I’ll need your help drumming up some good questions for them. I’ll be announcing on Facebook and Twitter.
And then it’s over, you guys. I take a red eye out of Los Angeles and get home to my sweet family at 7am on Saturday.
