Thanks to Kia, I’m headed to the hills of California to test drive the new Kia Stinger on Monday, November 13. Make sure you’re following along with the hashtag, #StingerIsHere
Gran Turismo is one of three video games I love playing and am really kick ass at. I’m super pumped for the new Gran Turismo Sport video game that came out in October. I preordered it “for Styles” for Christmas but I have to find a way to play it before Christmas actually happens.
Or DO I?
Shortly after the game arrived in an unmarked box, Kia invited me to Burbank, CA to actually test drive the new Gran Turismo-inspired Kia Stinger, I was PUMPED.
Now I get to act the game out
(within the bounds of the law, of course) with this little kitten I know from my last trip to Los Angeles named Shelley.
The Stinger started as what some thought of as a pipe dream when the GT concept was initially introduced in 2011 at the LA Auto Show, but has finally materialized as a car that is nimble and fast while being luxurious and quiet. My heart is racing just thinking about hearing the rev of the engine and feeling the Stinger’s suspension stick tight turns in the hills of California.
“A true gran turismo, a car for spirited long-distance driving, is not about outright power, hard-edged dynamics and brutal styling, all at the expense of luxury, comfort and grace,” notes Gregory Guillaume, chief designer, Kia Motors Europe. “The Stinger has nothing to do with being the first to arrive at the destination – this car is all about the journey. It’s about passion.”
The Stinger, in true Gran Turismo style, has performance, but it’s also got sass. I imagine it something like a 1920s Hollywood Starlet in a glittery red dress, long-filtered cigarette in her hand, martini in the other.
It’s graceful & moody, but once you get it on the showroom floor, you realize it’s also accessible. Starting at $31,900 for the base model, it’s the sexiest vehicle in its class, hands down.
Shelley and I have some fun stuff planned.
Photo shoots, choreographed routines, car dancing, and a playlist that will inspire you to get behind the wheel and jam.
