Yes, there is an eCigarette giveaway at the end of this post, but I want to tell you about my own guilty pleasure first.
A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about my mom and her long love affair with cigarettes. It was a torrid and toxic affair that saw her through losing two brothers to lung cancer.
The worst part about it all, was that she loved her cigarettes more than she cared about her children’s health. Mom? It’s true. I would sit in the back seat literally gagging from the smoke that she swore was going out the 1″ crack in the window. It wasn’t. It was blowing directly into my face, making me stinky and sick to my stomach. My sister rarely complained about it, and even stuck up for mom on more than one occasion, about how the smoke was definitely going directly out of the window.
Betcha’ can’t guess which one of us became a smoker.
The best part about my mom’s smoking is that I stayed really, really far away from cigarettes. I still gag when I smell someone smoking a cigarette. Going to a bar is horrendous for me, until I get just buzzed enough to not notice or care about the smell anymore. I mean, we live in a day and age where we know that smoking is bad for us. We know that it’s the additives and toxins that they put into the cigs, not the actual nicotine that is so bad for us. So why do we keep smoking real cigarettes? Especially when there are safe, healthy alternatives out there. I do not get it. At all.
Then again, my poison is sugar, not cigarettes.
Anyways, enough beating around the bush. When I tell you I haven’t smoked a cigarette, I mean a “real” cigarette. I have, however; smoked clove cigars many, many times.
I used to hang out at this swingin’ place in Orlando called Sullivan’s. The first time I went there I was 15 years old. I’m still completely shocked that my grandparents let me go, but it was a teen night so I guess they felt alright about it. I started frequenting that place every summer when we visited Orlando, then started going regularly once I turned 18 and could legally get in to the adult nights. I was 18 when I smoked my first Clove. My friend Darnell (otherwise known as Dee), introduced me to the delicious, rich flavor that left hints of sweetness on your lips to lick off after a draw. We used to walk around Downtown Disney acting goofy, puffing on our delicious cloves. When Sullivan’s turned into Cowboys, we kept going every Thursday for ladies night, and it was never a night without a pack of cloves and a good Goose & Red Bull buzz.
Luckily, I’m not, and never have been addicted to them. Cloves have been a come and go in my life and I can let them go as easily as I let them come in. I rarely smoke them when I’m just hanging out at home. They are enjoyed while I’m hanging out dancing with friends, or for a special occasion. Once the pack is gone I might buy one or two more packs, but the minute I start feeling congested or rattly, I stop smoking them. I rarely smoke them when I’m actively athletic like right now. Inhaling anything into your lungs like that doesn’t mix well with good endurance or optimum health.
I do love walking by someone smoking a clove, though. It brings back a flood of memories.
I’m kinda of bummed out eCigarettes don’t offer a clove option. I might be their first customer!
Anyways, if you missed the giveaway in the article about my mom’s lung cancer scare, you are in for a treat! Ecigarettereviewed.com is offering another ecigarette giveaway! This time, they are giving away EIGHT Green Smoke starter kids between 3/13 & 3/30.
The Green Smoke Pro Kit offers a long and short battery, two packs of cartomizers, a USB charger (with car and mains adapters) and a USB cigarette.
There are three varieties of tobacco flavor, Absolute Tobacco, Tobacco Gold and Red Label Tobacco (which is modeled after Marlboro Red), as well as the creatively named Mocha Mist, Menthol Ice, Vanilla Dreams and Smooth Chocolate. (mmmmm . . . I love me some smooth chocolate)
Green Smoke cartridges are available in five different strengths. The most nicotine-heavy option has a concentration of 2.4 percent (Strong), going down to 1.8 percent (Full), 1.2 percent (Light), 0.6 percent (Ultra-Light) and Zero.
The rumor is that Green Smoke cigarettes actually give you a high concentration of vapor that replicates that of a real cigarette. I’ve heard from smokers that they don’t feel like they’re smoking a real cigarette so the switch to ecigs is difficult. IF you know someone who has had that problem, tell them about this giveaway. It could be THEIR time to stop, this could be THEIR alternative, and you could absolutely help save their life.
Now tell me, what’s your guilty pleasure?
This is a partnered post on behalf of ecigarettereviewed.com. All opinions and guilty pleasures are my very own and were not influenced in any way.
