Balsamic Glazed Brussels Sprouts

Are you ready to fall in love with Brussels Sprouts?

They were my least favorite vegetable growing up, and walking into Paleo, I was like, “OH HECK NAH!”

But The Workaholic loves Brussels Sprouts, so I figured I had to give them a try, just like I expected him to give spaghetti squash a try.

I roasted them with bacon and fell madly in love.  Then one day I tried shredding them and sauteed them with some coconut oil, and seasonings with crumbled bacon (of course).  And fell even more madly in love.

The best way to make Brussels Sprouts, Easy Brussels Sprout Recipe

THEN, I bought pre-shredded Brussels Sprouts at Trader Joe’s with this Balsamic Glazed Brussels Sprouts recipe on the back, and Brussels Sprouts are my new favorite vegetable.  Truth.  My kids shoveled these into their mouths without even asking what they were, and I had to set some aside so that The Workaholic could have some too.

You won’t believe how easy it is, and it pairs deliciously with pot roast, pork tenderloin, roasted chicken, or salmon.  Actually, it pairs well with everything.

SO enough of my blabbing, here’s the simple Brussels Sprouts recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 3 Pieces of Bacon
  • 2T Olive Oil
  • 10oz Brussels Sprouts, shredded
  • 1/4c Balsamic Vinegar
  • 1/4c water
  • S&P to taste

How to do what I do:

  • Heat oil over medium-high heat then add bacon and cook until brown but soft, 3-5 minutes.
  • Add Brussels Sprouts and saute until crispy and brown, about 5 minutes
  • Season with salt & pepper if using
  • Add Balsamic Vinegar & water, then cover and steam for 5 minutes.
  • Plate up and LOVE.

These will NOT disappoint, I promise.  And if you’re looking for a recipe that will impress even your pickiest of eaters, make this mouthwatering side dish.

Disclosure:  Trader Joe’s doesn’t know me and didn’t pay me to publish this on my website.  I couldn’t find the recipe on their site, otherwise I would have simply linked to it.  The recipe can also be found on the back of their shredded Brussels Sprouts, which you can find at your nearest Trader Joe’s location.  I recommend you run over there RIGHT NOW.

This may be a stupid question but, can you shred them yourself? I have never liked brussel sprouts but I too am learning that I will need to leam to like them 🙂 I just bought a bag of whole ones today in hopes that I would find a way to cook them and BAM!!!

HA! Yes, you can shred them yourself. I generally do that very thing. 🙂 Just stick them in the food processor with the grating attachment and VOILA! shredded Brussels Sprouts. Come back and let me know how you like them!

[…] They eat really the same things most kids eat, just not what most kids eat. Right, that makes no sense. They eat roughly the same things they used to eat but we’ve eliminated the yucky stuff. Breakfast is generally scrambled eggs with fresh fruit and almond milk (coffee for me). Lunch is 3 slices of deli meat with cottage cheese, a fresh veggie (carrots are their favorite right now), and fresh fruit or applesauce. Dinner is always a protein with generally two vegetable sides. Our favorite dinner side right now are these balsamic glazed brussels sprouts. […]
