This is a sponsored post on behalf of Bloggin’ Mamas & the Florida Prepaid College Board. All opinions expressed are my own.
I can’t believe that in less than two years, my first born will be going to college. I’ll be 38.
The reality of this hit me like a ton of bricks this year when I realized that not only did I not have any money saved for Styles to go to college, but I had no way to suddenly save up enough money to send him.
The pressure of having to get good grades and rely on scholarships and loans is entirely on him, and he’s nervous.
And I did that.
There were times in our lives an extra $$ each a month would have been a stretch, but I know we could have done it. And yet here we are, with no money saved and college on the horizon.
That’s why I’m urging you to take advantage of Florida Prepaid’s Open Enrollment Period . It’s open now until November 30, 2017. Florida Prepaid is a fantastic program that is more and more affordable the earlier in your child’s life you enroll for it. It is guaranteed by the state of Florida and allows families to pay for Florida college in advance. Prices are locked in, and the program sets your child up for future success.
There are options to purchase only one year so that grandparents and other family members can also purchase years for your child. As the holiday season comes up and I drown in trash and toys every time I walk into my littles’ room, I wish I had offered this as an option to well-meaning grandparents and family members years ago.
Styles is interested in going to a Florida University, so if I could go back and do things again, I would have chosen the 4 year Florida University plan. The payment would have been $186.28 a month or a lump sum of $29,472.26.
Along with several other Florida bloggers, I will be cohosting a Twitter Chat on October 26, 2017. See below for details and let’s talk about why this is SO important!
