So, I used to run this hilarious little meme every Monday called “Murphy’s Law Mondays”. I didn’t stop for lack of content, but because the abundance content began to overwhelm me. Alas, it is Monday and I do have some Murphy’s Law moments from the past week that I really need to get away from.
Like the glass that exploded all over $25 worth of short ribs. (never mind the letters and blog paraphernalia all over the counter).
Or how about the fact that as I sat down to create my first out of 14 PLANNED cocktail recipes for this contest, I gave myself a concussion. A pretty bad concussion that I am, a week later, still trying to recover from. How ’bout them apples?
But this is less about what’s happening in my life at this very moment, and more about why I need to get to SoFabCon in Arkansas come May. Going to SoFabCon last year really took me to a new level, not only as a blogger, but as a professional. I’m not shy about the fact that being a stay at home mom was never something that I wanted to do. While some people think that this is the best, most wonderful, and most fruitful job in the world, I completely disagree. This job doesn’t fuel me. It actually sucks the life out of me. I love my kids, but I love to work towards something bigger than just myself. I love being in advertising and it is what I’ve wanted to do since I was a young girl. Writing commercials was one of my favorite things when I was young, and being able to flex my creative muscles with other big-minded people has been one of the greatest gifts I received at SoFabCon 13.
This year, I’m looking forward to the same thing. In this business, relationships are as important as content. Of course I’m amped to learn how to stage better photos and create a real business out of my blog. Of course. But being able to rub elbows with people who inspire me daily, to learn from them, to create big ideas with them. That is what I’m really looking forward to.
Being taken away on the winds of greatness, away from this disaster? Just an enormous bonus.
SO please enjoy this cocktail recipe on me. It will take you far, far away to a well-deserved Mommy Time Out. You know we could all use one of those every once in a while. And if you don’t think so, then perhaps you need a few of these to bring you back down to reality.
