We live in the sticks. I know that’s hard for people to comprehend when they find out I live in Florida, but it’s true. It takes about 45 minutes to get to the nearest big box store during low tourist season. You don’t even want to know how long it takes during tourist season because it would require some four letter words from me. Having to drive all that far to pick up our Purina® Pro Plan® dog and cat food becomes, um…let’s just say…interesting. And an epic waste of fuel.
Our animals are all extremely high needs, yeah – even the cat. Pearl is probably the worst. Even when I’m working, she’s knocking my hands off of my keyboard so I’ll touch her. Perks of being a Great Dane, huh? She pretty much gets what she wants.
Having high needs pets is the perfect blend of wonderful and frustrating.
I love when I’m home and Sarge and PopTart both jump up on my lap to cuddle…except when I’m working.
But it also means that if I’m gone for long periods of time, they get into trouble. Pearl and Sarge have this crazy mafia-style deal where Pearl digs trash out of our kitchen trash can for Sarge to eat. Pearl eats shoes and toys when she’s left alone for too long, and PopTart likes to dig at the door jams instead of his awesome cat apartment and multiple scratching posts.
I don’t get it.
I didn’t know an animal could love me so much it wants to piss me off whenever I leave the house.
I guess that’s just the way of the world. It also means that I try not to leave them home for too long without someone there with them, and when you live in the middle of literal nowhere, it’s kind of difficult to do that.
I rely heavily on Amazon Subscribe & Save for several things in our house: paper towels, toilet paper, supplements, sundries, and pet food. If you have never used the Subscribe and Save feature, you get $5 off your first purchase using it. You save 5% when you subscribe for one product and 15% when you subscribe for five products, and in my case, you save half a tank of gas.
I also find it insanely important to feed my pets food that is full of the highest quality ingredients, backed by veterinarians and scientists, and a governed by a top-notch quality control department. I know for certain that that’s Purina®. One year ago today I was still in St. Louis visiting the Purina® corporate facility . It was an eye-opening trip for me and my pets have been Purina® loyal ever since.
PopTart and I have a really special relationship. Back in the fall, we were going through a rough time and I was experiencing some anxiety. I was at a pet store one day picking up Sarge’s diabetic prescription food when I passed some kittens that were up for adoption. I fell in love with this little black and white thing with enormous ears named Adonis. I wanted to go pet him even though I’m extremely allergic to cats, so I did what all people who are allergic to cats do – I went in to pet him.
Stupid, right?
Well, I didn’t start sneezing, my eyes didn’t swell up, and I could breathe just fine. I kept waiting for the allergic response to happen but it never did. I went all day with not a single allergic response to this kitten and I knew I had to have him. When I went back to get him he snuggled up on me purring like a motorboat. When he did that, I felt my anxiety melt away into oblivion, and I knew we were a perfect match.
PopTart has become almost a therapy cat for me. He seems to know when I’m feeling a little antsy and he’ll come work his purr magic on my lap then hop off about the time I’m completely zen.
Making sure he’s well taken care of is so important to me which is why he gets a blended diet of both wet and dry foods. We currently feed him Purina® ONE® Tender Selects Blend with Real Salmon Dry Cat Food and Purina® Pro Plan® Wet Cat Food, Focus, Adult Urinary Tract Health. I didn’t realize domestic male cats had a higher change of urinary tract infections when we first got PopTart, but many people shared that information with me once we brought him home, so finding foods I believe will help keep him in tip-top shape is important to me, which is why Purina®. All the way.
Hop yourself onto Amazon and sign up for all of your pet food needs (and a bunch of other things, because the more you subscribe for, the more you save!).

Your post was so helpful. I have a beloved hard to feed cat and at age 70 cannot just stroll the store. Amazon her I come and Purina will come home to try. Thank you
